The Effect of Hypericum perforatum Extract on Gastric Ulcer Development in Rat Models

Gastric ulcer is a serious condition that results from the wearing/tearing of stomach mucosa. A physiological equilibrium maintained between mucosal defense and aggressive factors. In this study, effectiveness medicinal plants (Hypericum perforatum) in management gastric was compared to omeprazole, well-known drug for ulcer. This study involved numerous groups male rats comprising following: first group (control exposed H. pylori fed with normal animal feed), second (rats treated two doses {of 250 mg/kg 500 mg/kg} aqueous perforatum), third 20 omeprazole). The outcome demonstrated high dose perforatum prevents (50.65%) development ulcers. omeprazole revealed formation ulcers (24.50%). plant extracts showed greater preventing lower dosage.
